La Vieille Longère ~ Two beautiful country gites in Normandy.
La Vieille Longère is an ancient Norman long-house, dating back to the early 1600’s, situated in a tranquil hamlet of three stone- built houses.
Both gites form part of the long-house. Le Cottage is the most recent addition, dating from about 1770 and was used as a “Maison du Tisserand” where traditional lace was once made and La Crèmerie was part of a barn where the farmer made his cream and cheese.
Located in the heart of what is known as La Suisse Normande, La Vieille Longère provides extremely high quality holiday accommodation from which to base your stay in this beautiful part of France
Le Cottage was restored by the owners in 2011 and La Petite Crèmerie in 2013 both using ecological, natural materials, Le Cottage and La Petite Crèmerie offer extremely comfortable accommodation in an ancient building but equipped with modern comforts such as central heating and powerful showers.
We have comfy beds with goose down duvets in winter, quality cotton bed linen, beautiful decor and in Le Cottage, an inviting sofa and a roaring fire. Both have gardens where you can sit and while away the hours. Ideal for that relaxing, stress free holiday.
The Suisse Normande is unexpectedly convenient for visits to the Normandy D-Day beaches, the world heritage site of Mont St Michel and of course for walking or cycling through the stunning countryside, canoeing the River Orne, paragliding and horse riding. For those fit enough to try out the hills in the area, we have 4 decent bikes that can be loaned out.
