Wonderful stay in The Creamery

Pamela USA / London- 2014

My dog and I both loved this little gem. It is attractively done up, sparkling clean, and so smartly thought out that, despite diminutive proportions, it just works. Lesley and Nick are charming and obliging hosts. The internet functions flawlessly and the TV offerings include CNN. The setting is a hamlet of three restored stone residences surrounded by a lovely rolling landscape – perfect country for walking. There are several restaurants within a ten minute drive, but the first one I tried was so good I went back every night and can’t vouch for the others.

The Creamery is just Lovely

July 2014 – Bas and Nina – The Netherlands

We had a great stay in The Creamery. It is exactly as it looks like on the photos, the place is spotlessly clean and the surroundings are beautiful. The hosts Lesley and Nick are very friendly, relaxed and welcoming. We loved the place and hope to come back one day!

]Dreamy, Detailed and Homey !

October 2014  Gal – Jerusalem, Israel

Lesley and Nick’s place is dreamy, detailed, homey and pampering. Settled in the green magical Normandy surroundings it is a must try country side accommodation experience on your trip to this area. If you seek a pastoral getaway, this place is all you need and more. Lesley and Nick are talkative, kind and warm people that make you feel welcome even before you’ve met them. Do not miss this spot! Stop looking – I assure you you’ve already found your heart desire right here. 🙂

Relax and enjoy!!

We spent two wonderful weeks in the cottage of Lesley en Nick. The cottage was from the first day a place we called ‘home’. The cottage was cosy, tastefully furnished and well maintained.
The kitchen was really good equipped. We really loved the big garden, the fresh vegetables, potatoes, eggs and home-made jelly (recommended). The cottage in Ségrie Fontaine is a good start point for walking, sightseeing the D-day beaches and visits to the vide greniers. Lesley and Nick are always happy to inform you about the places to visit and where they have the next vide grenier. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back. Lesley and Nick many thanks for your kind hospitality!

If you are looking for a taste of the French countryside..then this is definitely your place! This lovely recently renovated cottage is charming, immaculate, and well stocked. We loved wandering through the nearby villages sampling bread, pastries, cheese, cider and wines. We ate lots of mussels and pomme frites. We kayaked the River Orne. Lesley and Nick were generous hosts making sure we had everything we needed. Nick was very knowledgeable about the Normandy historical sites and gave us lots of advice, directions and maps to make sure we made the most of our trips. This was a fabulous stop before we headed to the hustle and bustle of Paris. We highly recommend this gite.

The best kept secret in Suisse Normande
Deirdre, Ted and family – Massachusetts, USA
July 2013

We spent 4 nights of our two-week trip to France at La Vieille Longère Gites, and my only regret is that we didn’t stay there longer. We would have happily spent our entire time there. There is so much to do in this beautiful area of Suisse Normande if you choose to do so, but it is also the perfect place to just check out and really relax. La Vieille Longère  was a picture perfect spot for our family of four. Nick and Lesley have created a delightfully charming cottage that is clean and efficient. It is simply, yet lovingly appointed (i.e. clutter free!), and indeed cozy. We enjoyed spending time in their lovely back yard, where we dined on fresh greens from their garden (a huge bonus) and played badminton. We also enjoyed fresh eggs on our last morning – amazing! Nick and Lesley couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful, not to mention, knowledgeable about the area. La Vieille Longère Gites is a real gem!

“Beautiful tranquil location- great hosts”

We had a very enjoyable holiday staying at this immaculately renovated gite. The location was ideal for exploring the beautiful countryside of Swiss Normandy and allowed easy travelling to the D-Day beaches, Bayeux and Le Mont St Michel. Nick and Lesley were friendly, unobtrusive hosts and gave us meaningful insights to the surrounding area. They were always available to help and were very thoughtful in leaving some welcome provisions for us on our arrival and having a roaring fire going in the woodburner. It is an easy hour’s run from Caen’s ferry terminal and there are plenty of supermarkets within easy reach. We went on some lovely walks , some directly from the gite and enjoyed the local small town of Falaise and the village of Pont d’Ouilly . Visiting La  Roche d’Oetre was well worth it and only about 10 minutes from the gite. We will definitely return to explore more of the area and experience the warmth of the reception given to us by Nick and Lesley. We also intend to kayak down the nearby River Orne. This gite is highly recommended and friends of ours are already planning to come over next year. Diolch yn fawr!

Fabulously cosy gite in the Swiss Normande                                                                                                    April 2013

Stunning location for this beautiful gite. My husband, I & grown up daughter arrived in blizzard conditions in Le Havre and onto the most gorgeous holiday home, in Segrie Fontaine, The Esse Stove was blazing and the cottage warm and cosy on a very chilly day and with the kettle just about to boil, a perfect welcome. Nick and Lesley have taken the time, effort and hard work, to make this a truly delightful home, we felt so welcome and relaxed, that after two days we felt as if we had been on a weeks holiday. The complimentary Cider, tea and coffee was a very generous touch, guests always love these little extras, and goes to show the owners care. We bought freshly laid free range fresh eggs, home-made jam and lazed by the fire, wonderfully comfortable squashy sofa and blankets and curled up while dinner cooked on top, what could be better? The beds are extremely comfy, we slept so well, Segrie Fontaine is a very pretty quaint little Hamlet, with views in every direction of the Swiss Normande, no light pollution here! The walls are so thick too, keeping in all that lovely heat which we needed being so cold outside, but I’m sure in the summer would be amazing too. There is every possible item you need in the gite, all mod cons, but what you do also have, is the best possible welcome, advice on where to go, what to see, the walks, and friendly smiles, and a gorgeous black cat. Right outside the lounge window there are bird-feeders so a close up view of a huge array of bird life in this tranquil spot. There are deer, badgers and foxes too. All the little extras make this a perfect holiday home, books, games, music,TV, DVDs, lots of information;the flowers were a nice touch too. We particularly liked all the antiques, so much more interesting than bland matching furniture, the whole cottage has been a labour of love and it shows in every nook and cranny, absolutely gorgeous. For a quicker route to the gite, take the ferry to Caen, we took the longer trip, only an extra hour as we had an amazing deal with LD lines, but you can’t beat good old Brittany Ferries where the holiday starts when you step on the boat! Well done Nick & Lesley ! We hope to return.

A perfect get away in Swiss Normandy

We both had a lovely, quite and relaxing holiday.
The Gite was beautifully decorated with everything you could want provided even English telly. A lovely big sofa and comfy bed made the gite like a home from home and a great place to return to after a hard day’s sight seeing.
Nick and Lesley were fantastic, very helpful with plenty of ideas and advice on where to visit and what to do.
The location of gite was ideal, close to some beautiful scenic walks, bike rides and canoeing. It wasn’t too far either to the main historic places like the D-day beaches, Bayeux and Le Mont Saint Michel.
Just a wonderful place to stay. We shall definitely be back.

Like home….only different

April 2012
After an easy run down from Cherbourg we found our home for the next week easily.
With a warm welcome from the owners Lesley and Nick, we were shown round the sympathetically and meticulously renovated cottage, which, although joined to the main house, could be half a mile away owing to the thickness of the building walls.
As well as being well equipped for self catering, there is a fantastic wood burning stove in the main living space. This we were grateful for as the weather we encountered during our stay was, as they say, ‘changeable’.
As a previous review said that the pictures of the cottage were accurate, however we thought that they didn’t do the place justice. As soon as you walked through the front door you felt comfortable, the cottage has a lovely atmosphere to it.
The property has its own garden area with picnic table and barbecue and stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
The owners live in the main house and are very knowledgeable on the local area and events. La Vieille Longère is a perfect spot for a quiet break being in the centre of the rolling countryside of La Suisse Normande. It is also within visiting distance of the Normandy coastline with its thought-provoking history.
If you want a get away from it all break this is the place to stay, far enough away from anywhere to be quiet, but near enough to civilisation so you can immerse yourself in French rural living.
We will definitely be back and in fact, have been !

Beautiful gite in Swiss Normandy

May 2012
We had a wonderful holiday in this beautiful gite. The pictures give an accurate impression of how attractively decorated and furnished it is, and we found it to be very clean and well looked-after. The owners were charming and attentive, and we could not fault their service. We very much enjoyed our week and would thoroughly recommend this property.
It is in a pleasant little village which is quiet and relaxing but conveniently close to the key attractions of Swiss Normandy.

We stayed at the cottage for three nights in September and it was wonderful. We were pleased with the cleanliness of the home as well as the hospitality from Nick and Lesley. They are so very kind and helpful. This being our first time in Europe and not speaking French (yikes), they assisted us with finding local stores, butchers and making sure we saw the beautiful countryside. It was a lot of fun and everyone was so patient. The cottage was charming and warm – perfect for us but plenty of room for more than just the two of us. Thank you Nick and Lesley! We hope to return before too long.
