New Year’s Forest Walk

posted in: Life in France | 0

2017 and finally we are in winter !

A walk through the forest behind the house has provided us with some lovely shots taken in the late afternoon on a very frosty January day. The forest is owned by our neighbour Daniel whose mother owned our house during WW2. He’s planted it with chestnut, oak and pine but this walk took us through the ancient natural forest, full of roe deer and the occasional wild boar. You can sense the history of the region in such wild places as this and it connects you to the earth and the people who lived here long long ago.
